REVISING THE MATH CURRICULUM PROGRAM – OPERATIONS AND ALGEBRAIC THINKING
Kinderplans is in the process of revising the Kindergarten Math Curriculum Program. The Operations and Algebraic Thinking strand has just been completed. The
video below gives you a general idea of what this math curriculum strand consists of.
MEETING CURRICULUM OUTCOMES
Using the the math workbooks and centre activities found within these units cover the curriculum outcomes below:
PICTURE STORY TEMPLATES
The lessons would begin with using real life addition situations found within the classroom and everyday life situations. Displaying the picture templates displayed below would be used to explore this further.

In the unit you will find additional practice sheets, which are displayed below.
SUBTRACTION PRACTICE SHEETS
In the unit you will find subtraction practice sheets, which are displayed below.
PROBLEM SOLVING SHEETS
Included are advanced thinking sheets for problem solving, which are displayed below.
In the package you will find addition and subtraction cards used for instant recall numbers to 5. Have fun using these to create games. Some of them are outlined below:
- Duplicate copies of these cards can be made. Partner players can draw a see who can instantly recall the answer.
- Students can draw a card and complete the “Reach for the Top” template as outlined in the video.
COMPUTE AND COLORING SHEETS
To help students achieve the outcome: I can fluently add and subtract to 5, the students compute and color the sheets according to the correct answer.
